1V: Inquiry

Inquiry. As of my knowledge, this word means guidance through my freshman year of college. This word means another grade on a paper that will help me reach my final goal of graduation. As of right now that word is a class on my schedule every Tuesday and Thursday at 11:00am. But could it mean more than that. Google has described it to me as, and act of asking for information. So is this a class of questions? If I’m not mistaken, I am supposed to have a billion different questions as a new student so it could make sense. But I believe it is also a class of discovery and realization and, if anything, the elimination of most of my daunting freshman questions.

Dictionary.com definition of Inquiry:

1I: Dancing Fool

SCSU Welcome Back Dance. When we first walked into the room there was so much awkward, you could feel it throughout your body. Have you ever thrown a bunch of strangers in a room and forced them to dance, well this was that moment. There was an occasional person swaying their hips but not much more with the fear of looking like a total idiot. People stayed in their individual groups and made small talk but what fun is that? But my friends and I aren’t made awkward and we go with it. I dance like an idiot (I look like gangly baby giraffe, mixed with an unbalanced 80’s disco skater) and because I have like 5 left feet but it doesn’t matter. Eventually people started moving and being more social with strangers because we all secretly wanted more friends. And in the end it turned into a pretty fun night.
Glowing like Nikki Williams :)

1B: The Observer

Have you ever seen someone on Facebook post statuses every 10 minutes, basically sharing their whole personal life, and honestly, you could care less? In fact, I bet you considered or actually did unfriend them! Trust me, I would have too and probably have a few times. But at first, this is what I thought a blog basically was; people sharing their personal life, which was totally irrelevant to me. In some aspect this is true, but there are also blogs about style and cooking and news related topics that are have SOME objective information mixed with some emotions and opinions. I realize there are blogs basically about everything and no matter what you like, you are bound to find a blog that you have something in common with!
Like another human being, I enjoy a good piece of gossip about anyone. I enjoy know things about people’s lives (don’t judge me, we all feel this way. Admit it!) But there is some blogs that cross the line of telling gossip and being a rude bully. That is something I don’t like about some blogs.

My “blogging style” will revolve around my emotions on a certain topic. At some points you may think I’m attempting to make a joke or be funny and chances are it was an attempt and its okay if you don’t laugh, I get that I’m not that funny. But I am very observant. I feel like I have the same “issues” or realizations about stuff that a lot of people do, and I can share that. I put issues out into the open that we all feel but are never shared allowed. Don’t worry, I’m not going to pretend I’m hip and I won’t scare you away with my personal issues; probably because I have noneJ. I wish. But I’m hoping my blog will open up new things to talk about mostly having to do with things at college that are different to me. I hope you enjoy and keep reading!!

Love reading Celeb gossip blogs, but don't worry I will never post stuff like this. Its just fun to read

1A: College; Your Blank Canvas

We all know who we were in high school. Chances are, you had one of two study habits; you studied or you didn't. You also probably were stuck with some reputation of being the “slut” or “nerd” or “quiet one.” But there is also a chance that you outgrew that personality and study habits long before the end of high school but people didn't bother to notice.
In college you can change everything. You get to independently choose who you are going to be and the choices you are going to make in several aspects:
  • Academically: First of all, you get specifically choose what you want to be and study so you can have your “dream job” in the future. You are given the tools and informational sources to study whatever the hell you want. If you want to study you can, and pass the course. Or you can go party every night and blow off your classwork. It doesn't matter what you choose to do but the point it, you can make that choice independently and not be forced into doing what you don’t want to do. But if you mess this up, you can’t blame anyone but yourself.
  • Socially: this is the time to be whatever you want!! You can completely change your image and no one will know because they don’t know you. If you want to study in your room all the time, go for it. If you want to be the college drunk, drink away. But people will less likely to use the dreaded sentence, “you've changed” because no one knows you did. College gives you the opportunity to be who you want and make new friends with who you want.

Teachers constantly tell you that college is tough and so different. Coming into SCSU they give us all these seminars to help us make us make the “right decision.” I respect this but they know that we are going to make plenty of mistakes but hopefully that we will positively learn from
them. This may sound cliche but I look at this new school as the opportunity to mold myself into what I want to be. I have goals; I am majoring in elementary school teacher. Teaching means the world to me so I will do whatever it takes to come out with a degree. Though I am scared of the workload of my classes and scared of having a snobby professor, I am also eager to make new friends and put in my greatest effort to be my greatest potential. Though I know you might not have the same goals as me, I just am urging the fact that, this is one of your few opportunities to be yourself to your full potential.

College is your blank canvas full of new opportunities and independence; Paint away!

New school, New dorm :)
its a work in progress!
